Project Concept

Budget

I have set my budget to £350. This will cover the main materials needed for the prosthetic applications. The reason for the high amount is just in case anything goes wrong with the procedures, therefore i have materials to fall back on if anything goes wrong with curing incidents or if I need more of materials. I also have left overs, which I used a small amount of for any other additional materials such as mixing sticks and containers.

This was the final end budget after I had worked out what I may need for my project and how much of. The postage charges were expensive but at least I still have money left over to spare for any other materials that may be needed.

A desired brief chosen by the author, will demonstrate multiple prosthetic appliances, along with any additional necessities for the character. As prosthetics is the authors desirable line of work, the project will allow reasonable exploration and further experimentation within prosthetics.

Two Makeups will be demonstrated within the project, to represent the relationship between a human and an animal to create a human hybrid species. The first makeup will be of the human before he/she is transformed into the desired species chosen, the character will be given an accurate personality and appearance to simulate the preferred animal.

The second makeup will be the transformation stage, where the character will appear in his/her hybrid state.

The authors ambition, is to demonstrate the process of the transformation by a photoshoot /and or film to advertise a series. The expectation of the project is to determine whether practical application makes the character appear more realistic than digital effects, and less of an abnormality as a visual.

A thorough analysis of research will be explored for the project, examining not only books and films but also various historical, theoretical and practical background research to relate to the concept of the project.

Daily Log

Finalising Proposals and exploring research material on desired project outcome. Thinking about in depth research material appropriate to the learning outcomes. Research Primary research and various references such as books, magazines, films, DVDs.

Structure blog to the appropriate layout that is easy to navigate around, get research logged and annotated, scan books and get multiple resources to back up the concept of the project and get completed by week 5.

Objective

Overlook on project so far, finalising ideas and working out a budget for materials and necessary equipment that needs to be bought before the hand in. Designing, zbrushing and experimenting with materials.

Start thinking about how you want your prosthetics to look. What concept is it for, theatre, film, photoshoot?. Start collaborating with students to help witht he final project, this allows a timeframe for them to work around when they are needed.

Working on blog, getting more historial background, inspirational makeups, watch useful DVD's to support the project and help tackle and make molds. Get in touch with Artists from the industry.

Week 7

Get in touch with Model and plan a life casting session, all the necessary casts will be casted on that day, patch testing, professional pictures taken to anaylse, and discuss about the project deadline and work out a date to do the practical.

Week 8

Experiment with materials relevant to the project,  practice with colours, hair punching, flocking, any necessary equpiment that may come in handy for the practical. Start finishing off clay work by the end of the week to start fibreglassing for the next commencing week.

Week 9

Start to work through the process of fibreglass, ensuring all molds are accurate, clean, drilled and all ready to be filled with silicone. Making a deadline to finish this by a weeks time.

Week10

Continue to finish off any fibreglassing that may need doing, fill any completed fibreglass molds with silicone, and run a few testers first to see how it will turn out like. Keep other collaborating students upto date of the progress so far and allow them time to prepare for the practical fast appraoching, as hopefully a date will be set this week and final appearance of make up practical will be all finished and applied. Date will also be set for an interview day from the cinematography student about my work, and we will discuss when the final edit will be ready.

Week 11

Now that the final practical has successfully been finished ( hopefully) I can now focus on getting together my blog work, annotating everything I have not sucessfully finished upto date, to ensure I give myself enough time left to write my evaluation. Hopefully my evaluation would already be started by now, and it gives me another week or so to start finalising my thoughts.

Hopefully my final shoot would have been edited and ready to be uploaded to the blog ( a few days before the due date) . Blog will be almost finished, and any additional information will be later added if necessary.

Week 12

Final week before hand in will be mainly blog work, ensuring all annotation is upto scratch and everything is linked in well, all pages flow smoothly, and a box full of all my practical work is ready to go, pictures of the final shoot has been printed professional to add to my portfolio, a copy of my Film has been added to a disc, and all my print screens of my blog have been clearly presented on print outs, along with sketches, experimental work, practical prosthetics.
