Sexy Beasts

A Hilarious dating show which uses incredible prosthetics to transform people before they go on dates. With their looks taken out of the equation, can they find 'The One...' based purely on personality?

A loved the idea of being able to go on dates without having to dress up, the attention is taken away from what you would look like but based on how well you got on with the person through personality.

A great way of demonstrating human hybrids, still human like but with animal characteristics. Some amazing makeups produced, with great detail in very subtle changes to the face.

I watched quite a few episodes of sexy beasts, I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. But looking from the outside at the people on a date, it makes you question as to what the person from under the make up actually looks like based on their personality. The person to the left in the picture was made up to look like a green lizard, in this episode "Matt the Dog" appeared slightly big headed, full of jokes and to me I thought he would be a ladies man. His personality through the prosthetic was a lot different to what he actually looked like and I was quite surprised. It just goes to show how much people go for people with good looks rather than personality, and this show was a great way of demonstrating how they went for guys/girls that they had a bit of common with and not just the looks.

I loved the makeup of this character, the amount of work of the prosthetic completely changed what the actual person looked like. I loved the textures on his face, and the fact they actually made the nose wet to replicate that of a real dog.

A sneak preview of the series in action. This was the one episode I loved before all the characters that were made up looked nothing like you would expect them to look like. The prosthetics make the characters appear ugly, which has the affect on the people choosing their date, it just goes to show that even behind a mask, beautiful people can give off a horrible personality.

This series was a great source of research for my project. Even the slightest bit of makeup or prosthetics can change a person's appearance and how we react to someone that is wearing a prosthetic.

I have learned that people shouldn't always go for people purely because of their looks, but for their personality also. This show demonstrates how people determine what the people underneath the mask looks like purely because they have learned how to get to know them through their personality.

Many came to the decision of eliminating those they didn't have that much in common with, but then found out that the people they didn't really click with, were incredibly good looking which became a disappointment to some, which again comes to the looks.
