Experimenting with Hair
When it comes to experimentation, what greater way than to get a real pigs trotter from the local butchers and study the skin texture, the hardness and appearance of the trotter and use it as a reference guide. The idea of getting a real feature from an animal was intruiging as I never imagined a butchers selling something like that. I bought two, just in case anything went wrong with the first during experimentaiton.
The end result of the dip dye hair once bleach had been added, washed, treated, blow dryed under and straightened. The end result was amazing, and I was very proud of my overall outcome.
Not so much relevant to my project itself, but I thought it was something I was involved within, over the duration of the project. I was given the task of colouring a friends wig as I specialise in colouring, styling and selling wigs as a hobby. I thoroughy enjoy working with wigs, despite my hatred toward hair work on actual people. My confidence with wigs and useful tips for keeping hair maintained is quite skillful. I sold many wigs over the summer, whilst buying them for cheaper than what they were bid for ( purely because the condition I put them in made them look more professional) . I enjoyed working with my friends wig, as it was 100% human hair, and it was incredibly long in length. I had the great pleasure of dip dying it for her, she wanted a lovely ombre look to it, using various warm brown tones. So I used my instinct and bleached each section, timing it differently so the lowest part of the hair was the lightest compared to the rest. As seen in the images you can clearly see the end result, and I can honestly say I really enjoyed creating this look.
