X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series and acts as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class. The story, inspired by the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" produced by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, focuses on two time periods and Wolverine going to 1973 to save the future of mankind.

In the future, robots known as Sentinels are exterminating all mutants, as well as any humans who seek to help them. A band of mutants evades the Sentinels with the help of Kitty Pryde, who has developed the ability to project a person's consciousness into the past. Pryde's group convenes with Storm, Wolverine, Professor Xavier, and Magneto at a monastery in China. Pryde sends Wolverine's consciousness to 1973 to preventMystique from assassinating Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels. Following the assassination, Mystique was captured, and her DNA was used by Trask's company to create Sentinels, whose ability to adapt to any mutant power makes them almost invincible. Xavier and Magneto advise Wolverine to find both of their younger selves for help.

Although it may not appear relevant to my project, I thought in some way it was a interesting film to research into as there are many characters that appear human/animal like, and some characters themselves still appear human but have powers and mythical creature characteristics.

Some of the list to the right, are a few of my favourite characters from the films, they show great hairwork, pracitcal makeup and even some CGI, this gives a clear indication of all the necessary makeup ideas they used within the film.

X-MEN

Wolverine - He can fully and rapidly recover from any physical injury or ailment. He possesses long retractable claws which protrude from the backs of his hands. His skeleton was surgically laced with a fictional metal, known as adamantium, which makes it virtually indestructible.

Mystique - born with superhuman abilities. Mystique is a shapeshifter who can mimic the appearance of any person with exquisite precision.

Beast- born with superhuman abilities. He has superhuman strength and ape-like agility. In most depictions he also has blue fur, fangs, and claws. He is a member of the X-Men, a group of mutant heroes who fight for peace and equality between mutants and humans.

Storm - Best known as a longtime member and sometimes leader of the X-Men, Storm is the former queen consort of Wakanda, a title once held by marriage to King T'Challa, better known as the Black Panther. Storm is one of the most frequently seen X-Men. Her primary mutant power is control of the weather.

Blink -possesses the power to create a teleportation vacuum in which multiple people or objects can enter at the same time. She can also close the vacuum at will, any object that does not exit the vacuum as it closes will be cut off. In addition, Blink has demonstrated that she can create multiple teleportation vacuums at once for effective defensive purposes.

A Russian mutant, the character is a member of the X-Men, and is by far the physically strongest member of the team, being able to transform into a strong metallic form. Even without his powers he holds a physically imposing figure standing at 6' 7" (200 cm). Throughout the series he has been portrayed as a quiet, honest and innocent man.

A talented artist, he only reluctantly agrees to use his powers in combat, feeling it is his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of human and mutant-kind.

Jean Grey- A mutant born with telepathic and telekinetic powers. Her powers first manifested when she saw her childhood friend being hit by a car. She is a caring, nurturing figure, but she also has to deal with being an Omega-level mutant and the physical manifestation of the cosmicPhoenix Force.
