When the Pevensie family are evacuated out to the country, they are unaware of the adventure they will encounter. During a game of hide and seek, the youngest daughter, Lucy (Henley) discovers a wardrobe which transports her to the land of Narnia. Covered in snow, Narnia is full of weird and wonderful creatures, but is watched over by the evil White Witch, Jadis (Swinton). When all four Pevensie children end up through the wardrobe, they discover that it was meant to be, as two daughters of Eve and two sons of Adam must join with the mighty lion, Aslan (Neeson) to defeat the evil White Witch.

The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven high fantasy novels by author C.S. Lewis. It is considered a classic of children's literature and is the author's best-known work, having sold over 100 million copies in 47 languages.Written by Lewis between 1949 and 1954, illustrated by Pauline Baynes and originally published in London between October 1950 and March 1956, The Chronicles of Narnia has been adapted several times, complete or in part, for radio, television, the stage, and film.

Set in the fictional realm of Narnia, a fantasy world of magic, mythical beasts, and talking animals, the series narrates the adventures of various children who play central roles in the unfolding history of that world. Except in The Horse and His Boy, the protagonists are all children from the real world, magically transported to Narnia, where they are called upon by the lion Aslan to protect Narnia from evil and restore the throne to its rightful line. The books span the entire history of Narnia, from its creation in The Magician's Nephew to its eventual destruction in The Last Battle.

Inspiration for the series is taken from multiple sources; in addition to adapting numerous traditional Christian themes, the books freely borrow characters and ideas from Greek and Roman mythology as well as from traditional British and Irish fairy tales. The books have profoundly influenced adult and children's fantasy literature since World War II. Lewis's exploration of themes not usually present in children's literature, such as religion, as well as the books' perceived treatment of issues including race and gender, has caused some controversy.

The Chronicles of Narnia

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Edmund Pevensie, the second youngest sibling played by Skandar Keynes. He was the second to discover Narnia and the first to meet the White Witch who bribed him and tried to lure him to her castle. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, he was declared King Edmund the Just. Edmund betrays his siblings to the White Witch while under her influence, but as the story goes on, he accepts the error of his ways. He is redeemed with the intervention of Aslan and joins the fight against the witch

William Moseley, who plays Peter Pevensie, He is the oldest out of the four Pevensie children. He discovered Narnia after Edumnd and Lucy along with Susan and the rest. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, he was declared King Peter the Magnificent, the High King.

The four Pevensies, brothers and sisters, visited Narnia at the time of the winter rule of the White Witch. They remained there for many Narnian years and established the Golden Age of Narnia. Peter is the oldest, followed by Susan, then Edmund, and Lucy. They are all in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian. Edmund and Lucy are also in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; Edmund, Lucy, and Susan appear in The Horse and His Boy; and Peter, Edmund, and Lucy appear in The Last Battle.

Georgie Henley also known as Lucy Pevensie in the film,She is the youngest out of the four Pevensie children. She was the first to discover Narnia, where she met Mr. Tumnus, a faun who tried to capture her for the White Witch. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, she was declared Queen Lucy the Valiant.

Liam Neeson plays one of the main characters of the film, who is Aslan the Lion. Aslan is depicted as a talking lion, the King of Beasts, son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, lord of Narnia; a wise, compassionate, magical authority (both temporal and spiritual); mysterious and benevolent guide to the human children who visit; guardian and saviour of Narnia.

A digitalised talking fox, who befriends the Pevensie siblings in help to fight off the white which, he gets turned into stone in the film for speaking out to the witch.

A Centaur character, a mythical creature know to the greek culture, it was a great research prospective to see a practical of this creature created.

Another centaur makeup, very subtle facial prosthetics, although most of the prosthetics look like the actors actual face which is the interesting part.

My Tumnus, a faun character, very subtle practical makeup to the face, which makes him still look partially human with animal characterisitics.

One of my favourite makeup's, an entire faun/goat prosthetic, again we know it's human, but the prosthetic makes it seem all the more real that the actors face moves with the practical, making it appear realistic.

Anna Popplewell plays the role of Susan Pevensie , the second oldest of the four Pevensies, is sent away to Professor Kirke's house in the country with her siblings because of the air raids of World War II. Like her two brothers, Susan does not believe Lucy's story about finding a country in a wardrobe. Concerned that something might be wrong with Lucy, Susan and Peter ask Professor Kirke for advice. His response, that logically Lucy must be telling the truth, astounds them. During her reign, Susan becomes known as Queen Susan the Gentle. She helped establish the Golden Age of Narnia.

The lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe , one of my favourite films, only because the prosthetics used within the film were amazing. Some use of CGI, but mainly practical effects were used. I have chosen a few pictue above which demonstrate very subtle and then very full on facial prosthetics. The immediate thought of choosing narnia to research into when it came to thinking about films that used great prosthetics, this one had to be put into my research criteria.
