Are Cosmetics Safe?
Yes, for the most part. Serious problems from cosmetics are rare. But sometimes problems can happen. The most common injury from cosmetics is from scratching the eye with a mascara wand. Eye infections can result if the scratches go untreated. These infections can lead to ulcers on the cornea (clear covering of the eye), loss of lashes, or even blindness. To play it safe, never try to apply mascara while riding in a car, bus, train, or plane.Sharing make-up can also lead to serious problems. Cosmetic brushes and sponges pick up bacteria from the skin. And if you moisten brushes with saliva, the problem can be worse. Washing your hands before using make-up will help prevent this problem.Sleeping while wearing eye make-up can cause problems too. If mascara flakes into your eyes while you sleep, you might wake up with itching, bloodshot eyes, infections, or eye scratches. So be sure to remove all make-up before going to bed.Cosmetic products that come in aerosol containers also can be a hazard. For example, it is dangerous to use aerosol hairspray near heat, fire, or while smoking. Until hairspray is fully dry, it can catch on fire and cause serious burns. Fires related to hairsprays have caused injuries and death. Aerosol sprays or powders also can cause lung damage if they are deeply inhaled into the lungs.

What are in Cosmetics?
Fragrances and preservatives are the main ingredients in cosmetics. Fragrances are the most common cause of skin problems. More than 5,000 different kinds are used in products. Products marked “fragrance-free” or “without perfume” means that no fragrances have been added to make the product smell good.Preservatives in cosmetics are the second most common cause of skin problems. They prevent bacteria and fungus from growing in the product and protect products from damage caused by air or light. But preservatives can also cause the skin to become irritated and infected.et your users know a little more about you.

Common causes for cosmetic products can be :
- Conjuntivitus , which can be cause by the sharing of mascara wands, eyeliner and any product that involves using around the eye area.
- Yeast Infection of the face , this can be cause by many things, but in cosmetic terms, it can be mainly caused my the usage of soaps and shower gels.
- Not forgetting hairdye is also tested, if you have sensitive skin, have you ever had a reaction to hair products? , imagine what the animal they tested this product on went through for you to have it.

The misconception of using cosmetics can also be a cause for any infection. Many people don't realise, their products do actually have an expiry date. Any type of product that comes into contact with saliva, eye fluid or skin, can be a cause of bacteria growth.
Many makeup stores have on display a "tester" product for any person to test before buying, many people are unaware of the concerns it may have if 10 if not another 30 people have touched that same lipstick you are holding, and just testing it out can cause all that bacteria to develop herpes or any type of skin reaction.
Hairdye is also a dangerous product that has had people experiencing
the most terrifying experience of swelling of the scalp, blindness and
blistering of the skin. Many pictures are great reference images for my
final outcome.

A look into some serious makeup/hair dye infections and reactions caused by the inaccurate uses of makeup. Looking into the consequences of what makeup and hair dye could do to people is an amazing reference.
Multiple reactions can happen to humans, despite being tested on animals in the first place. Makeup can still have it's cons if not thrown out after a few months, or if someone is to share someone else's mascara wand, but surely that is common sense....right?
The crazy thing I find is, if anything is tested on animals once, why feel the need to keep testing similar products if they already know the possibly side effects? if something is likely to burn the animal, don't use it, or put caution on the bottle to avoid any accidents.
I understand some accidents are unavoidable, but thats the chances people take when buying the product, so let them deal with the consequences rather than the poor animals.
